10 Video Games With RUTHLESS Online Multiplayer

7. Super Smash Bros. Melee

Call of Duty Modern Warfare
Nintendo

One of the most wildly popular games Nintendo has ever released, the second game in the Super Smash Bros. series has an intensely dedicated competitive community. It's passed by Brawl, 4 and even Ultimate to an extent in pursuit of absolute esport viability.

While originally it was a GameCube exclusive in 2001, a fully-fledged online mode was added to the title thanks to the Dolphin emulator in 2020. Few could have predicted how popular Melee would be with professional players, who are constantly holding contests year after year. Generally, the fighting roster is ranked by speed and effective attacks with Kirby at the bottom tier and Fox ranked at the top.

Still in use at tournaments nearly two decades after its release, Super Smash Bros Melee is relentlessly competitive for both its speed of play and variety of character moves. Like other fighting games, players will typically choose one fighter and stick with them, taking into account their weight, move-set and stage recovery among other gameplay factors. Once a player has mastered a given character, you're going to have a very miserable time taking them on in a fight. Watch out for constant combo juggles and very few opportunities to land a hit yourself.
