The most recent entry on the list, but one that thanks to winning every award under the sun throughout 2013 is the most recent benchmark for video games as both an artform and an affecting piece of entertainment you can show off to anyone within earshot.
It's safe to say Naughty Dog have come a hell of a long way since perfectly animating orange marsupials and telling the adventures of sexy adventure-types, and with LoU scriptwriters Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley knocked it clean out the park.
Cast aside the hipster-ish notions far too many people have these days of "Oh well it's so popular so I'm not going to enjoy it" and just breathe in the dystopically-tinged adventure in front of you. Both Joel and Ellie's interdependent relationship is a modern marvel in programming, letting you get to know them as you would in real life through every moment spent in their company, not to mention the roller coaster ride of emotion that chicanes through any number of peaks and troughs along the way.
Oh and that ending? It's spectacular.
