10 Video Games You Can Never Admit You Haven't Played

4. GoldenEye 007

Hey, think of a first-person shooter, you got one? Bet you it's got a multiplayer component right? Well, that's in there because of GoldenEye.

Sure if you're feeling extra pedantic you're free to say 'Erm, well, Wolfenstein came first' before readjusting your beret, but GoldenEye's importance to the industry stands firstly as what happens when a very confident development team creates a multiplayer mode as a goof (only for it to take off like a rocket) and also for proving that competitive shooters can exist on consoles.

Not only that, but chances are GoldenEye was your first foray into split-screen shooting right next to the PS2 version of Unreal Tournament or the first Halo, easily sewing the conversational seeds that are still being plucked to this day whenever any 'Best Of' lists roll around.

In 2015 if you're revisiting 007 don't expect to be blown away by any graphical capabilities or a particularly robust story - instead know that every step you take in that world has been replicated by nearly every other gamer in history, not to mention the bit where you'll accurately blast a bloke's man-spuds off whilst he's sat on a toilet.
