10 Video Games You Can Never Admit You Haven't Played
3. Metal Gear Solid
As the gaming industry continues to barrel through narrative junctions, gaining speed and momentum at every turn it's impossible to have a discussion about the very nature of storytelling in video games without touching upon everything Metal Gear brought to the table.
From east-meets-west anime mechs piloted by badass western-styled action heroes, more one-liners than a hungover student's essay attempt and cutscene direction that thanks to being planned out with actual Lego blocks for the sake of understanding form and structure, MGS is just as replayable and admirable today as it ever was.
Stay the hell away from Twin Snakes though, the awful Gamecube 'reimagining' that went off the deep-end with what main hero Snake was first thought capable of, having him skate off in-flight missiles whilst all that exquisitely memorable dialogue was completely re-recorded.
Playstation is the only place to be for MGS, and it most likely always will be.
