10 Video Games You Couldn't Make Yourself Finish

3. Final Fantasy XIII

Final Fantasy XIII is unquestionably one of the most divisive games in the legendary RPG series, and that's largely down to the fact that the first 20-or-so hours of the story are mind-numbingly linear.

Fans often call the first half of the game a "20-hour corridor," and hyperbolic though that might sound, it isn't until you reach the world of Gran Pulse that the training wheels are well and truly taken off and you're actually free to explore.

Up until that point, the combat largely feels trivial to a fault and it doesn't exactly help that the story and characters aren't among the series' best.

Given that the strongest Final Fantasy games introduce players to a likeable and interesting cast of characters right out of the gate, allow them to explore a gorgeous, teeming world, and have an addictive combat system, it's little surprise that even many die-hard fans of the franchise never made it to the end of this one.
