10 Video Games You Didn't Know Were Connected

7. Firewatch/Gone Home

Firewatch and Gone Home don't share a developer, but apparently they do share a library.

In The Fullbright Company's house 'em up, returning protagonist Kate Greenbriar stumbles upon unboxed and unsold copies of her failed author father Terrence Greenbriar's tin-foil treatise, The Accidental Savior. Apparently, at least one person took a chance on the book; it appropriately turns up in another conspiracy, nestled in hidden caches in the Firewatch's Wyoming forests.

To reciprocate the gesture, Gone Home's devs retconned a sneaky reference into the console release of their game: a matchbook from the Overlook Restaurant with a very familiar sundown skyline. It's a rare example of games from different developers seemingly sharing a universe, and rather touchingly speaks of the two indie studios' mutual respect. Aww.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
