10 Video Games You Didn't Realise Are Shutting Down In 2023
3. Deathverse: Let It Die
Closing Date - July 18th
Because Let It Die received mixed reviews, you'd think it wouldn't take long for this hack-and-slash to fizzle out. But considering this Soulsborne-inspired title got dowloaded two million times in under three months, it was obvious gamers couldn't get enough. When those numbers rose to six million in 2020, it would've been bad business for Let It Die not to get a sequel.
And so, Supertrick Games brought out a battle royale follow-up called DeathVerse in May 2022. In this instalment, reality tv contestants must fight for fame and glory inside a virtual world. After you and 15 other players are dropped into an arena, you need to do what you can to survive.
At first, you should be won over by the eclectic cast and creative combat mechanics. But very quickly, you'll notice DeathVerse is surprisingly bare-bones. Once you've had a few gos, you'll feel like you've experienced everything it has to offer.
Recognising this pseudo-spinoff couldn't match its predecessor, the creators announced DeathVerse would come to an end only a year after it launched. Can't win 'em all, I suppose.
