1. Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3
The twelfth entry into the ever-expanding Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops III managed to stand out from the rest with its pre-release marketing.
In one of the most controversial strategies in modern gaming, the official Call of Duty Twitter page changed its name to 'Current Events Aggregate' in September of 2015, and began posting cryptic messages about the news, and an apparent terrorist attack in Singapore.
Activision were forced to apologise when it revealed this was all a marketing ploy.
With hype nevertheless ramped up, the game delivered on most of its expectations. Becoming the top-selling game in the US for all of 2015, it was filled with improved gameplay mechanics and a surprising amount of content for players to sink their teeth into. Perhaps the one thing it was most criticised for however was its campaign mode, with most people claiming it to be lacking in innovation and playing things a bit too close to the safe side.
This criticism towards the campaign might be the reason why the game has a surprisingly low completion rate.
Whilst most of the series is around 20-25%, less than 10% of players who start Black Ops III actually go onto finish the game.
