10 Video Games You Didn't Realise Were Cancelled In 2023

2. Marvel's Midnight Suns (Switch Version)

Cancelled Marvel Midnight Suns

Marvel's Midnight Suns was one of 2022's most criminally underappreciated games, for despite launching to firmly positive reviews, its December release date didn't exactly set it up for success.

Midnight Suns launched on PC and current-gen consoles, with developer Firaxis promising that it would release on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One at a later date.

It finally ended up hitting PS4 and Xbox One in May of this year, though the release date announcement also came with the frustrating revelation that the Switch version had been cancelled.

Given that Midnight Suns' bite-sized, relaxed gameplay lends itself incredibly well to handheld play - just ask anyone with a Steam Deck - it's a damn shame that Switch owners were ultimately deprived of this one.

Firaxis didn't explain why the Switch port went up in smoke, though it's highly likely that they simply couldn't get it to run satisfactorily on the console's ageing hardware.

And while it'd be great to see it ported to Switch 2 in the future, given the game's general commercial failure it sadly doesn't seem terribly likely.

Here's to you, Midnight Suns - you deserved so much better.
