10 Video Games You INSTANTLY Knew Were Trash

1. Alone In The Dark: Illumination

A modern Alone in the Dark game being abject garbage shouldn't surprise anyone anyway, but the most recent entry into the series, Alone in the Dark: Illumination, basically hung a neon signpost around its neck pointing it out.

This online-only third-person shooter - as if that wasn't enough to make fans twitch - outs itself from second one, when the game begins not with a glossy introductory cutscene but... a giant wall of text.

Because the budget was apparently low enough that developers Pure FPS couldn't even spring for some voiceover, players were instead forced to read four pages of exposition to get the gist of the story.

Or, more likely given how uninteresting the already-piecemeal narrative was, simply skip it and get to the action.

Now the gameplay isn't any better, but it impressively told you how tossed-off it was before you even gained control of a character. It's almost impressive.

Fingers are at least crossed that the upcoming remake of the original Alone in the Dark - promisingly starring Jodie Comer and David Harbour - might remind people why the series was once held in some level of esteem.
