10 Video Games You INSTANTLY Knew Were Trash

3. Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero

Forspoken game
Midway

Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero marked Midway's attempt to diversify the hit fighting game franchise into, er, not fighting games, with an action-adventure title starring the series' own Mr. Frosty himself, Sub-Zero.

There are worse ideas in the world, honestly, yet from the moment you're given control of Sub-Zero, there's no doubting that Midway did the bare minimum to transplant the series' core fighting game mechanics into a yawn-inducingly generic temple-crawling romp.

You punch enemies, avoid obstacles, leap across platforms, and... sit through some of the worst live-action cinematics in the medium's history.

The jaw-dropping cheapness of these FMVs, with bad cosplay costumes, rancid digital backdrops, and hilariously amateur camerawork, leave no doubt that this game was cranked out on the cheapest of cheaps.

The FMVs are at least charming in their own slung-together, horribly acted way, but can't conceal the fact that this marked a desperately cynical, no-effort attempt to milk the Mortal Kombat Kash Kow for more moolah.

And given the game's title, it was reasonable to assume that Midway was rather optimistically expecting to produce additional Mythologies spin-offs for other popular characters like Liu Kang and Raiden. Yikes.
