Friday the 13th The Game is an interesting title. A semi-open world survival horror game, it was developed by IllFonic and Black Tower Studios and sees players either play as camp counselors at Camp Crystal Lake, or Jason Voorhees, the hockey-mask-wearing serial killer from the Friday the 13th franchise.

From the plethora of costumes and customisables, to the the variety of kills Jason is able to perform from the series, it is one of the most faithful horror movie reconstructions in the gaming world.

The game itself, however, is fairly mediocre. There can be long, long periods of not a lot happening, especially if the Jason player isn't quite familiar with all the mechanics, and the game is prone to awkward pauses and unresponsive commands at times. Ultimately, it still feels like quite an unpolished game from a developer few in the gaming world had heard of prior to its release.

Nevertheless, the game is still proving itself to be one of the best party games for people to crowd into a lobby and have some fun with, as well as being one of the few horror titles out in the market with such faithfulness to the original movie franchise.
