10 Video Games You Should Be Playing Right Now (October 2015)

4. Fallout 3 Or Fallout: New Vegas

Why? Fallout 4 is going to see a complete overhaul to the series' core feel, mechanics and animation - something that's going to be evermore impactful if you put a few hours into either of the last two beforehand. Both Fallout 3 and New Vegas were phenomenal games. In some ways it feels like it's selling them short to call Bethesda's titles 'games' - these are worlds you step into, landscapes you breathe in and character progressions you become intrinsically tied to. By the close of both 3 and NV you'll have been on one of the most epic adventures of them all, taking you from underground nuclear bunkers that were built to survive an inevitable nuclear holocaust - the remaining strands of humanity being stretched across what's left of the surface for you to interact with.
Fallout 3 is pretty relentlessly bleak in this regard, and it's New Vegas that then saw the series' older, more humorous sensibilities return in full. Bethesda's second attempt at perfecting their 2008 formula is arriving in less than two weeks, and what better way to take note of everything they've improved upon, than delving into what's still one of the most unique gaming experiences of them all?
