10 Video Games You Won't Believe Share The Same Universe
7. Gone Home And BioShock
The case of the joint universe of Gone Home and BioShock is a curious one, as it involves the developer outright admitting that he wanted to link the games' universes together from the beginning.
In 2018, Steve Gaynor, the writer for Gone Home and co-founder of the Fullbright Company, revealed in his podcast Tone Control how, in his vision, Gone Home connects to the universe of BioShock. Gaynor explained how the things happening in Bioshock II's DLC, Minerva's Den, which Gaynor also wrote, have an effect on what is going on in Gone Home.
The full podcast can be found here, but let's talk about the main points Gaynor made. The most cohesive link between Gone Home and Bioshock is a video game in Gone Home called "Super Spitfire". The game's name is a reference to a game in BioShock II, which is just called "Spitfire." The game in Gone Home was published by CMP Interactive, which is the initials of Minerva's Den protagonist, Charles Milton Porter.
According to Gaynor, Porter decided to take "Spitfire" to the surface after surviving the events of BioShock II and then published it as one of the first video games in the world.
