How to split the AC fanbase right down the middle?

Ask them who wants to see more of the present day stuff.

Personally I was way into everything that was happening circa AC II and Brotherhood, but it's safe to say even Ubi had no idea where everything was headed once the various infighting Gods appeared.

Still, in Origins we can see from the map that a number of 'Juno Events' are labelled, directly invoking everyone's favourite/most-hated deity from Brotherhood onwards. There's also the fact that just watching any gameplay clips shows Animus-esque digital artefacting techniques as Ba Yek slips into tall grass, and the game retains the same loading screens as always, with Ba Yek standing amidst a white background.

Acknowledging the present timeline could be nothing more than a new protagonist right at the end of the campaign emerging from the Animus, but with Juno and the Animus itself clearly not being written out, something is happening with the other half of AC many seldom talk about.
