10 Ways Assassin's Creed Origins Has Already Saved The Franchise
3. Immediately More Varied Gameplay
As I've mentioned, over the years it felt as though Ubisoft went backwards with their list of innovations, 'refining gameplay' as they'd call it to actually include less and less - the only notable carryover being the basics of climbing and stabbing.
Well, no more.
Being developed by the ship combat-mastering Black Flag team, Origins has all the basic trappings of AC stealth, underground tomb-raiding, arena fighting, sailing and best of all, full underwater combat.
The last time we could explore the seas was Black Flag and Rogue, though the former's underwater missions were siphoned off 'levels', rather than being a seamless part of the experience.
A good mix of open-world traversal, treasure collection, animal-fighting and everything else we associate with the franchise should immediately give this a way more progressive feel than the last three entries combined.
