10 Ways Assassin's Creed Origins Has Already Saved The Franchise
5. The Return Of The 'Blank Slate' Protagonist
Speaking of characters, there are two schools of thought amongst the Assassin's Creed fandom: Either you like embodying a script-heavy personality like Ezio or Jacob, or you prefer a semi-silent warrior, watching from the shadows, protecting the lands whilst barely uttering a word like Altair, Connor or Adewale.
For Ba Yek, whilst the E3 presentation didn't show him speaking, we know from other hands-on accounts that he isn't a silent protagonist. Instead, Ba Yek starts the game as a member of the Medjay; essentially an ancient Egyptian mercenary force who eventually fell under control of the government/pharaoh.
This should give Ba Yek a somewhat Witcher/Geralt-like tone and presence; a steeled professional, brutal enough to enforce the law whilst also having the moral scruples to understand when he's being taken advantage of.
My assumption for the formation of the Assassin Order is rather like Metal Gear Solid's Big Boss creating the Militaires sans Frontières/Outer Heaven: The realisation (also like Captain America's POV in Civil War) that a force for pure good is more effective when not being guided by governmental interests.
What do you think is the inciting incident? Let me know down in the comments.
