8. The Vanguard Are No Longer Simply Ear Pieces

Back before Destiny had DLC, at launch, the Vanguard were the leaders of each respected class.

They did little more than stand around a table and give us the occasional pep-talk over our headset from time to time. As Destiny progressed, so did the Vanguard. They became more prominent and more important to the story. They gave us quests, they gave us lore from time to time. But all the while, they still remained in the Tower and were essentially a voice over.

Come Destiny 2, that's all changing. From the trailers, whether it be a teaser, reveal or a gameplay one, the Vanguard is front and centre. More present than ever.

Taking a look at the first mission Bungie showed off, the Vanguard have finally joined the fight. They have boots on the ground and are out there kicking ass alongside us instead of simply talking over comms from afar. Zavala saves us with a bubble shield and Ikora takes out a Cabal ship with a nova bomb.

In just one section of the first mission of Destiny 2, the Vanguard have done more than they did during the three years of Destiny.
