10 Ways Nintendo Dropped The Ball At E3 2018
1. No Sign Of The Nintendo 64 Classic/Mini
Just because fans want something, it doesn't mean they're definitely going to get it. Such is the case with the Nintendo 64 Classic/Mini. Many among the Nintendo faithful wondered whether E3 might be the time that the classic console with the three-prong controller could be shown off. It wasn't.
Perhaps it's partly due to licensing arrangements. Four of the top ten best-selling Nintendo 64 games were made by Rare. What's more, the rights for Goldeneye 007 are somewhere between Activision Blizzard and EON Productions. AND a remake of Goldeneye for Xbox 360 was canned under slightly murky circumstances, with who's to blame changing depending on who you asked.
With legendary classics including Super Mario 64, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Mario Kart 64, the Nintendo 64 would be the hottest retro machine out. Then there's underrated classics like Beetle Adventure Racing, Space Station Silicon Valley and Blast Corps waiting to be rediscovered.
Until Nintendo work out how to produce mini GameCubes, we'll be hopefully getting back into four player multiplayer crowded around one TV in the next eighteen months or so. (Let's hope the controllers are sold in pairs this time, too
