10 Ways Nintendo Dropped The Ball At E3 2018

2. Will The Dockless Switch Release Outside Of Japan?

Japanese Switch fans who want the system without a dock can, as of last month, pick one up for a modest saving. Retailing for almost $40 less without the dock compared to with it, the new SKU of Switch doesn't yet represent a price drop of any significant amount. That's not where the machine is in its lifecycle right now and Nintendo have no real need to drop the price given its status as the gaming world's darling once again.

But let's be real here.

A slightly cheaper option in all territories, even by the price of one video game, would increase sales to new consumers and possibly tempt Switch fans who want a second system for their household. It could even be sold with an eShop download code or eShop credit as an extra sweetener to seal the deal in the same way the 2DS has been packed with games like Mario Kart 7 and New Super Mario Bros. 2.

Plus, with no sign of a successor to the PS Vita, Nintendo are once again reigning unchallenged in the portable space. It's the perfect time to consolidate the lead in the market by getting out new console bundles.
