10 Ways Red Dead Redemption 2 Can Build On GTA V's Best Features
6. Side Missions
Whilst the main campaign in the Grand Theft Auto series is often the main draw, there are usually a number of exciting side missions that act as a breath of fresh air from the beats of the story.
Some of the best moments in the franchise come from the Strangers and Freaks found in both GTA and Red Dead Redemption.
GTA V gave us some of the best in the series history, like the Epsilon Cult and the Letter Scraps Killer, but Rockstar could do even more in Red Dead Redemption 2, building on the frontier folk found in the original game.
The strangers found could be expanded into deeper stories instead of just mainly collecting items and hunting for other characters, like the Psycho-inspired 'Flowers for a Lady' from Red Dead Redemption.
Whilst the framework and cutscenes in between the mission were excellent, hopefully, Rockstar can iterate on the gameplay and make it more engaging and connected to the side stories on display.
A good example would be the fun Paparazzi missions in Grand Theft Auto V, which involved tailing a celebrity to snap photos, and didn't feel so disconnected from the story it was attempting to unravel.
