10 Ways The Gaming Industry Can Improve

8. Tame Hype

Hello Games

With E3 showcases promising the world and endless game trailers breaking the internet it's hard to imagine that such promises may very well have the potential to disappoint. Imaginations run wild, and people are quick to theorise about the most minute of details. Hype often overshadows the game, so when a title releases and is met with modest critical reception, it's often seen as a disappointment (Final Fantasy XV, anyone?).

Tempering expectations is harder than it looks, but gamers would be served best remembering that there are precious few games that have reinvented the wheel and offered something truly unique. It's never a sure thing, and dampening the untamed hype that comes with being a video game fan may be wise.

Hype is not exclusive to the players, however. Developers have been known to promise a wealth of features that simply aren't included, and publishers serve to elevate the hype around the game, with consumers taking the bait.

The whole industry gets caught in a whirlwind of excitement and anticipation, and while such emotions are surely normal, the promise of perfection would perhaps best be responded with a smidge of suspicion.
