10 Ways The Gaming Industry Can Improve

4. Digital Games Pricing

It's been evident since the disastrous XBOX One launch that the video game medium has been shifting to a digital space as we inch further into the 21st century.

Platforms like Game Pass and PS Now are leading the charge, with a substantial number of people abandoning physical games in favour of digital services. It's a welcome change to many of us who look to services like Netflix, Hulu or Spotify Premium for our entertainment, and gaming is the most recent victim to the trend of monthly subscription-based consumption.

Why, then, are digital games on their respective store so often more expensive than their physical counterparts? Games that released years ago are stubbornly remaining their retail price until a sale comes around, so heading to a brick and mortar store is more often a more economically viable way to buy games.

DVD's are a relic of the past, and game discs are surely going the same way, but over-bloated prices of games is only slowing the process. Make older games significantly less expensive on each system's respective store and give physical games the swift death they deserve.
