10 Ways To Make Assassin's Creed Work Again In 2017

8. Fix The Present-Day Storyline (Or Remove It Entirely)

Ever since the conclusion of Desmond's storyline, Ubisoft has certainly struggled to find a way to make both the Animus storyline and the present-day plot equally relevant and cohesive. Starting with AC4, the consistently changing characters/perspectives have led to these present day sections becoming increasingly confusing AND irrelevant. For future instalments, there are two possibilities: either commit time in the game to offer up further explanation and character development within the present day sections, or just remove them entirely.

Removing the modern segments in AC isn't a new idea, as a number of longtime fans of the series have debated on whether or not they're even necessary. It's clear that Ubisoft aren't having the easiest time with replacing Desmond here, so removing them to focus entirely on the Animus storyline is a perfectly worthy idea.

In the end, it depends what kind of stories Ubisoft wish to tell. If they still hold the present-day element in high regard, then a good amount of development will have to be committed to reigning in these two timelines, so they better interlock with one another.

However, that decision could serve as a double-edged sword, as players seem to always prefer Animus sections to the modern gameplay. Ubisoft simply has to make the decision that brings better storylines, regardless of whether they take place in the past, present, or maybe (somehow) even the future.
