10 Ways To Make Assassin's Creed Work Again In 2017

6. A Protagonist That Sticks Around For A Sequel

Ezio Brotherhood
Ubisoft

There's something special about witnessing a character arc develop across multiple games. Witnessing Ezio's arc and transformation from womanizer to veteran assassin from AC2 to Revelations proved to be quite the satisfying experience overall. If Ubisoft didn't stick with Ezio through those three games, there's a good chance that the AC series wouldn't have reached the level of success that it has.

However, ever since the conclusion of Ezio's story, Ubisoft has started employing a new protagonist in every new instalment of AC. Even though this makes a completely unique location and time period possible with every iteration, it makes caring for the main character way more difficult. We were given time to appreciate all the qualities of Ezio, as well as learn to at least deal with Desmond.

Given several games, all of AC's protagonists (yes, even Connor) could've become as multi-layered and iconic as Ezio.

This story choice could be added to the modern storyline as well. as Desmond may not have always been greatly likeable, but he was at least a consistent face in those sections. As cool as it is to see all these exciting new locations and characters, it's time Ubisoft takes a chance and picks a protagonist that is given the proper amount of time to develop. Seeing a personality overstay their welcome is certainly a concern, but wasting the potential of a great character? That's far worse.
