10 Ways To Make Assassin's Creed Work Again In 2017
5. Shift Focus Back To Stealth Gameplay
What happened to that patented AC stealth? The series used to be the modern-day poster child for slinking through the shadows, and now it has been pushed aside for games like Hitman, MGS V and Deus Ex. The transition started with AC3 and AC4, as they focused more on the action and less on the sneaking-around gameplay that AC was mostly known for. It's time that the series goes back to its roots and follow the way of the assassin once again.
The assassination missions in Syndicate were a great step in the right direction, as it gave players a single objective with many varied means of accomplishing that task. Ubisoft needs to develop that level of depth with each mission that focuses on remaining unseen/blending in with civilians. Take some inspiration from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, which offered players many different methods of getting the job done through the design of the game's environment, and/or the availability of particular resources.
The stealth focus should by no means limit how players can go about completing missions, as it's important the series still remains open to different play styles. However, it's time AC becomes less about taking out an gangs of enemies in the open, and more about taking them out one-by-one through stealth assassinations from a hay cart.
