10 Ways To Make Sure The Call Of Duty Movie Doesn't Suck

3. Hire A Director With A Strong Creative Voice To Tackle It

As this is Activision€™s first time making a feature length movie they€™ll probably be a little nervous about how best to manage it. They€™ll need to keep in control of the process whilst also acknowledging their lack of experience with cinemas. What seems like the best course of action then would be to hire a talented director - one with their own unique cinematic voice - and give them some creative freedom to tackle it their way. Activision are probably looking at established action directors to take the helm such as Justin Lin, Peter Berg or Antoine Fuqua. These are safe, reliable hands but if they feel like being grand and announcing to the world that the movies will take risks they should look at filmmakers such as David Ayer, Michael Mann or €“ and this is a real stretch admittedly €“ Clint Eastwood. They€™re directors with a strong vision of what they want and what they need to do to achieve it, and for better or worse they€™d deliver their unique version of what a Call Of Duty movie should be. Activision€™s instinct might be to play it safe with their choices, but gambling on a bigger name, and not just picking a hired hand, could be the way to go.
