10 Ways To Make Sure The Call Of Duty Movie Doesn't Suck

2. Look At What Made The Marvel Cinematic Universe Work

When Marvel announced their hugely ambitious plan for a cinematic universe, the other studios winced. It had never been attempted before and the odds of failure were great. If just one of those movies had failed it could have derailed the entire plan and instantaneously turned them into laughing stocks. But their bet big, win big approach was a massive success and now other studios are looking to replicate their formula. If Activision want to create a strong lasting franchise they€™ll need to look past the dollar signs and examine why the Marvel approach worked so well. One key factor is that they were patient with their plan. They made solo movies and developed the characters for the audience before launching into The Avengers blowout. They also hired the best actors, writers and directors they could find and treated their source material and the audience with respect. Contrast this with the planned DC approach, which was to make one rather joyless Superman movie with Man Of Steel and then viciously cram about four or five movies worth of material into Batman V Superman. Their focus isn€™t to make the best possible movie it's to kickstart a moneymaking franchise. Activision€™s lesson should be to focus on making a good movie first and then trusting that people will turn up for it, rather than going for anything more long-term.
