10 Ways To Make The Perfect Star Wars Video Game
4. Don't Force The Cast To Get Involved
Voice actors do a great job of replicating celebrity voices where necessary, and this has never been as true for any gaming series more than Star Wars. When you've got the likes of James Arnold Taylor and Dee Bradley Baker on your books to fill in for major characters - why bother bringing in the real thing?
Personally; I don't believe the real cast add much to a video game experience, because they generally sound as though they didn't want to be there in the first place. Take Denis Lawson as a prime example (Wedge Antilles), Lawson has frequently lent his voice to Star Wars video games but he sounded truly dis-interested by Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II.
He isn't even a main cast member, an yet he sounded fatigued with the whole thing. Give the actors a break and bring in the voice talent we're all accustomed to - if there's a better Luke Skywalker than Bob Bergen, then quite frankly I've never heard of him. He sounds more like Mark Hamill these days than Mark Hamill ever did.
