10 Weird Video Game Concepts That Totally Should've Sucked
5. Bad Mojo
Having a computer game loosely based on a Frank Kafka novel (The Metamorphosis) probably didn't seem like the best plan when it was first suggested. But the critical and commercial success of Bad Mojo showed it wasn't such a weird idea after all. The player is cast as Roger Samms, an entomologist planning to embezzle money from a research grant to escape his sordid life above an abandoned bar. An accident with his mother's enchanted locket unleashes the bad mojo, turning him into a cockroach. The game's essentially an adventure, with you controlling the protagonist cockroach though a series of pre-rendered screens. The story is fantastically dark and dirty in a David Lynch kind of way. Sometimes the graphic content can actually go a bit too far, there are some pretty nasty scenes in Bad Mojo, of course if you like that kind of thing you'll enjoy the game even more. Bad Mojo was originally released way back in 1996 but got a redux version in 2004. It's considered a cult classic by many gamers. It may be short, but it packs a lot of game into its running time. Snap it up for a bargain price right now.
