The Fallout series loves to build its post-apocalyptic world out of bizarre ideas.

On top of cannibalistic mutants and robotic butlers, the games even confirmed the existence of aliens all the way back in Fallout 1 and then turned them into a reoccurring Easter egg.

Fallout 4's writers actually take the extraterrestrial spin one step further and use it to make world-shattering changes to the canon!

In Fallout 4, you get to meet the Cabot family, who, for some mysterious reason, have remained eternally youthful and healthy for the past 400 years.

As you do side quests for them, you discover that the source of their immortality is an alien crown that the family's patriarch, Lorenzo, uncovered from an ancient city in the Arabian Desert.

Digging into Lorenzo's past even more, you can discover that the crown was made by a strange alien race who secretly meddled with humanity's history by creating human-alien hybrids and jumpstarting some of the earliest civilizations on Earth.

What all of this means is that, canonically, all humans in Fallout 4 are descendants of ancient aliens, and that Bethesda's writers probably need to lay off binging Ancient Aliens for a while...
