10 Weirdest Fighters In Fighting Video Games

3. Hornet – Fighters Megamix

Sega AM2

Sega must have had a ball in the meeting room when the developers were discussing which characters from their franchise should star in this fighting-series crossover.

This Saturn game was intended to be a mixture of characters from both the Virtua Fighter 2 and Fighting Vipers games, alongside a few other choices here and there, such as a few forgettable, original fellows from Sonic Fighters' weak arcade fighter.

The cast alone did not draw in crowds like Smash Bros. Then again, you cannot play as a racing car Smash Bros.

Nintendo, you missed out on a golden opportunity.

Taken from the racing game Dayton USA, Hornet “stands” on its back wheels and swings its front ones to punch the baddies. They seem to distend it in the air, and can deliver some ferocious moves like putting skid marks on necks with a vice-like throat grip.

For a vehicle, Hornet is quite flexible, and is able to bend its body like rubber. Alongside that, the four-wheeled speed demon can even strip its metal plates and adopt a completely new moveset.

After a successful bout, it bounces around on its spoiler like that of a cheerful child.

Whether it's a ghost in a machine (a dead kung-fu master who died in a destruction derby event, maybe?) or not, it is never revealed. It'd make for quite the dramatic backstory, at least. One to think about for the future, Sega.
