Bethesda's revival of the famous post-apocalyptic franchise had a lot of missions you could charitably refer to as busy work. Fallout is set in a world where most of humanity has been wiped out by nuclear war, or else transformed into terrifying mutant monsters, or else struggles to survive in the face of deadly radiation and terrifying mutant monsters. So, naturally, one of your first objectives in the game is to help write a book. To be fair, it was a tome called the Wasteland Survival Guide, meaning you went off and stuck your nose into nests full of beasties, drank radioactive water, and generally put your life at risk. At least you got some cool swag when it was all over. And at least it had nothing in common with actually writing a book, which entails sitting inside for long periods of time shunning human contact (nothing like gaming, nope). Originally, though, the mission was going to call for the most boring bit of book production: you were going to hunt out an old printing press and...publish it. Then come back. Fun...?
