10 Weirdest Things People Have Done With Football Manager

5. Become An Actual Football Manager

Insane though the last point might be, it's in keeping with a thought everybody has had when they've been playing Football Manager (or maybe it's just Jay from The Inbetweeners): if you're so adept at pretending to be a gaffer, and these games are supposed to be accurate simulations of the job, surely you'd make a good gaffer for real? Believe it or not, there are people who have been hired as football managers off of the back of their Football Manager skills. Sort of. In 2013 22-year-old Vugar Huseynzade was appointed boss of Azerbaijani side FC Baku, making him the youngest manager in history at that point; and it was entirely off the back of a decade of FM play. Actually he was working at the club in some other capacity beforehand, but it was the passion he had for the managerial side of things €“ and the knowledge he apparently gained from playing the games €“ which lead to him becoming a real-life Football Manager. Which is crazy when you think about it. Not many kids becoming plumbers after Mario.
