From self-contained tales revolving around difficult choices to chilling monster encounters, The Witcher 3: WIld Hunt contains some of the best quests in gaming history.

Despite the plethora of serious quests which deal with moral ambiguity, there are likewise many light-hearted outings that add some levity to this game's otherwise bleak world. One of the most memorable is Equine Phantoms from the Blood and Wine expansion.

This quest begins when the eponymous monster hunter stumbles upon a hermit tormented by a wraith that only they can see. For Geralt to see this spirit for himself, he must drink a special concoction brewed by the hermit. Doing so, however, reveals that the potion has a side effect that enables him to talk to his trusty horse Roach.

The pair set out to solve the mystery together in what quickly turns into a hilarious buddy cop outing full of intriguing twists and excellent horse puns. This game also takes the opportunity to poke fun at itself here with a handful of meta jokes aimed at Roach’s ability to seemingly teleport alongside their wonky controls.

Place this humorous premise within a genuinely enthralling mystery, and Equine Phantoms becomes one of this game's finest and funniest additions.
