Now, bear in mind FFV was available before internet forums could help us solve in-game puzzles; Famed Mimic Gogo – the optional boss battle at the sunken tower of the Water Crystal – is a prime example of when this could just be outright frustrating.

Firstly, the battle takes place underwater, introducing everyone's least favourite battle mechanic – time limits. This already puts the player under pressure to get in and out of the tower as quickly as possible.

After locating the crystal shard, we're plunged into battle with the Mimic who we soon learn is the most powerful boss in the game. Defend yourself and he casts powerful healing magic on himself, try and attack, and he counters with instant kill hits.

The only way to beat him is to literally do nothing. Because he copies every move of yours, by doing nothing, he does nothing, and you eventually win the battle. Few players thought of this as our eyes are constantly drawn to the ticking timer in the corner of the screen, and the nervous sweat it causes us our thumbs to twitch down onto the attack button, resulting in a game over.
