7. Poochy Ain't Stupid - Yoshi's Island
Despite the fact everyone hates auto-scrolling levels with a seething passion, Nintendo continues to insert them in most Mario games. As irritating as auto-scrolling courses are, the most annoying one has to be Poochy Ain't Stupid in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
As you begin the stage, you will come across a lava pit that spells instant death if you fall in. You need to hop on your dog, Poochie, to cross it since he has an unexplained invulernability to molten magma.
The problem with the level, Poochy Ain't Stupid, is Poochy... is stupid. Whatever direction you are facing while on Poochy, the silly pup will keep marching in that direction. If he goes too far, you'll slide right into the lava.
Because of this, you need to keep turning left and right to avoid veering too far in one direction. This is tricky since spiked balls and bats keep come at Yoshi from every direction.
When Poochy starts moving in one direction, he accelerates very slowly but then zooms to the other side lightning-fast, making it difficult to time when to jump off him or calculate where he is going to be when you try and land on his back.
