10 Worst Triple-A Games Of The Decade (So Far)

7. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

Forspoken game

The Call of Duty franchise is rightly dinged for its fast food familiarity, but the series is also reputed for the general level of polish afforded to each annual release.

But the series' reliable winning streak finally ended with 2023's Modern Warfare III, which made only a superficial effort to disguise the fact that it was a Modern Warfare II DLC that was cynically repurposed into a "mainline" Call of Duty release late in production.

On launch, the game was widely panned for its lousy campaign, which lacked the franchise's expected cinematic flair, instead lazily tossing in elements from Warzone and basically calling it a day.

The multiplayer suite fared better but also suffered from the game's overall roughshod development, given that it launched with no original 6v6 maps, instead simply remaking existing maps from 2009's Modern Warfare 2.

Topped off with one of the most listless Zombies modes in the series' history, Modern Warfare III truly felt like Activision testing the waters to see how little effort they could get away with.

Thankfully though, the series came back with a vengeance with the recent Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, even if Modern Warfare III endures as a monument to the grossly complacent potential of AAA games development.
