10 Worst Video Game Boss Battles Of 2018

1. Scorchbeast Queen - Fallout 76

Love it or hate it, there’s no doubt that Bethesda’s Fallout 76 has been one of the most controversial titles to release in the last twelve months. A series known for its intense despair and moody isolationism, 76 throws all of that out the window in favor of buddy-centric survival co-op. Yay.

Yet, the Scorched Earth quest may be one of the most significant in the game as it’s one of the few quests which directly incentivises co-operative mission engagement. Reclaimers will need to be in groups of at least eight or ten to have a chance against this thing, something that becomes more of a hindrance during easier quests.

The boss fight itself, however, is pretty annoying. The issue is that, while the Scorchbeast Queen herself isn’t all that tough, there are so many extra enemies in the area that a majority of the encounter is spent quelling the rabble rather than fighting the beast herself. Plus, only Todd will know if the server or game will crash mid-fight, which is always sure to enthrall frustrated players. The Creation Engine is definitely good for another ten years, Bethesda, don’t worry about it.
