10 Worst Video Game Checkpoints EVER

7. All The Bosses - Control

Grand Theft Auto IV
Remedy

Though Remedy's Control was one of 2019's best-reviewed games, there was one common complaint among fans and critics alike: the iffy checkpoint system.

While for most of the core experience it was passable enough, the limitations of the game's checkpoints became abundantly clear for those who dared to tackle Control's optional boss fights.

Basically, in the event that you're killed by any of the bosses, you'll be thrown back to a control point and have to spend a few minutes making your way back to the boss.

Control isn't exactly Dark Souls, and for fans of Remedy's prior games - all of which have touted a moderate-at-best level of difficulty complete with user-friendly checkpoints - this felt like a needless act of player torture.

It doesn't help that the game's loading times are also egregiously long on consoles, making the wait to get back into the action even more enervating.
