10 Worst Video Games Based On Comic Books

8. Spider-Man: Return Of The Sinister Six

Catwoman PS2
LJN, Flying Edge

In all honesty, this list could have consisted of nothing but crappy Spider-Man games, but this will be the last one, as it's also the worst. Spider-Man: Return Of The Sinister Six could have been an amazing game when it was released on the NES in 1992, but it was another typically bad title from LJN.

Old NES games were limited in complexity by the technology of the day, so the devs often cranked up the difficulty to make the games seem longer. There's a name for this: "Nintendo Hard," and anyone who's experienced it knows the pain and frustration.

Spider-Man: Return Of The Sinister Six is Nintendo Hard, but on top of being a frustratingly difficult game, it's not made very well at all. The hit detection on the game is absolute crap. Controls were likewise shoddy, and Nintendo Power commented at the time, writing that "you can release what looks like a perfect punch and end up swinging right past your enemy."

The level design was clunky and unappealing, while the graphics were somewhat dated compared to the other titles released on the NES at the same time. Overall, the game is just too hard, too ugly, and too frustrating to have any replayability.
