10 Worst Video Games Based On Comic Books

2. Silver Surfer

The Silver Surfer is one of those characters who could easily find himself in a video game. He flies around on a surfboard and fires off beams of cosmic energy. He's the perfect character for a 2D side-scroller shooter, and he got one in 1990 for the NES.

The game is infamous for its difficulty, which is so incredibly frustrating, it makes Nintendo Hard games look easy. It is easily one of the hardest games on the console, which was described pretty accurately by GamePro:

"You'll battle seemingly endless waves of tanks, monsters, mutants, ghosts, bats, and robots. Opponents always attack in groups, most take several hits to destroy, and none of them are slow. Robo-guns and traps are everywhere. And be careful not to crash into the scenery."

A bullet-hell game can be fun, but it needs to be more interesting than simply throwing the same kinds of enemies at the player over and over again. One of the game's biggest problems is its requirement to hit the "fire" button every time you want to shoot. Most bullet-hell games let you simply hold it down.

You'll be lucky if you only break your index finger playing the game, which kills you at every turn. A single hit will kill you, as will touching a wall or looking away from the screen for 1/1000th of a second.
