10 Worst Video Games Of 2019 (So Far)

5. The Division 2

The Division 2
Ubisoft

To be totally honest, the overwhelmingly positive reviews for The Division 2 absolutely baffled me.

I totally get this is a more "refined" version of the original's premise, but when that first game was just about the most box-tickingly basic open-world loot shooter Ubisoft could have made, I was expecting way more from a followup.

This is Ubisoft after all. Getting things right second time is kinda what they do.

Instead, this ultimately feels like glorified DLC; another "platform for content" release that will be supplanted with numerous add-ons and updates going forward, but that plays everything so painfully safe.

Thankfully A.I. aggression has been tweaked so you don't get pinned down with nowhere to go quite so frequently, but I can't believe almost your entire moveset is comprised of taking cover, dodge-rolling, aiming and firing.

Yes, there are a handful of gadgets but the vast majority carry over from The Division 1. What you're left with is another shooting gallery of a title; mastication for the thumbs and "something to do" while talking to a group of friends or killing time, but that also exemplifies the worst releases in the industry right now.
