10 Worst Video Games Of 2024 (So Far)

5. Graven

Devil may cry peak of combat
Slipgate Ironworks

Published by 3D Realms and Fulqrum Publishing, Graven serves as a throwback to late '90s shooters. To be fair, this dark fantasy nails the pixelated aesthetic so perfectly, it could pass as a FPS from that era.

However, Graven often relies on nostalgia like a crutch to make up for its shortcomings. Though Produes was a blatant Doom clone, it had enough refreshing ideas to stand on its own.

Graven, on the other hand, doesn't have much to offer . Weirdly, this dungeon-exploring title focuses on replicating the most frustrating aspects of old-school shooters, including backtracking, unhelpful maps, and vague instructions.

Also, scouring every area in the map to find one single artefact is never fun. Worst of all, there are game-crashing bugs that can wipe all progress in an instant. (But at least this glitch gives players an excuse to stop playing.)

These issues could be somewhat forgiven if the combat wasn't so bland and rough. Whether our hero is using swords, magic, or ranged weapons, battles are never as thrilling as they should be.

If these problems aren't cleared up when Graven is ported to consoles later this year, this IP will never recover.
