10 Worst Video Games Of 2024 (So Far)

3. Skull & Bones

Devil may cry peak of combat
Ubisoft

Simply put, Skull & Bones is Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, with significantly less everything

Anyone expecting a swashbuckling adventure from this so-called AAAA game will be heartbroken. Ubisoft's naval warfaring title contains nothing that makes pirate games fun. There's no swimming or exploring the depths of the ocean. No boarding enemy ships. Hell, sailors aren't able to explore their own vessel.

Instead, Skull & Bones is composed of sailing, blasting ships, and not much else. By decimating schooners and man o' wars, our hero can collect enough scrap and gold to upgrade the ship, so they can lay siege against more daunting foes.

And that's all Skull & Bones has to show for itself. What's worse is the process of gathering enough material and money to upgrade the ship effectively is painfully slow and laborious.

Although the protagonist can explore islands for buried treasure, there's no sense of urgency or excitement, since these areas are bereft of enemies. So, when players aren't taking part in mundane battles, they're scurrying around islands that offer zero challenge.

Considering Skull & Bones was in development for ten years, it’s baffling to understand what Ubisoft was working on if this was the end-result.
