10 WORST Ways Video Games Took Away Your Favourite Powers
2. Batman Abandons The Shock Gloves Because He...Prefers Using His Fists? - Batman: Arkham Asylum
Though Batman: Arkham Origins was Rocksteady's third Batman game, it was also a prequel and so the first entry into the series chronologically-speaking.
One of Origins' easy highlights was the inclusion of Shock Gloves - electrified gauntlets which the Dark Knight could use to pound his enemies into a stunned stupor.
As enjoyable as the Shock Gloves were, fans were left wondering why, in narrative terms, Batman wouldn't have kept them around for Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, not to mention Arkham Knight, which was released after Arkham Origins.
Arkham Knight does in fact offer up a fairly pathetic, wishy-washy explanation for this. If you visit the evidence room at the GCPD lockup, security guard Aaron Cash suggests that the Caped Crusader actually prefers to beat the bad guys up using his fists.
As weak as this is, at least it's clearly said with a wink and a nudge to the audience, as if Rocksteady is basically acknowledging how nonsensical it is that Batman wouldn't take the Shock Gloves with him.
