If there's one game that sums up the issue of poorly done ports on Wii U, it's Watch Dogs. Released 6 months after the other versions, the game shipped at full price without the option of buying DLC. It's also a pretty unoptimized port with noticeable pop-in and frame-rate dips that make driving around Chicago feel laggy and unresponsive. Watch Dogs only uses the GamePad for off-screen play and map displaying duties. It's not hard to think of better ways to utilise the second screen - it could have been awesome to use in the hacking mini-games or as a convenient way of viewing camera feeds and Aiden's phone. Using it as just a map is completely unimaginative. Ubisoft has stated that Watch Dogs will be the last 'mature' title they release on Wii U, which may end up being a good thing. Releasing a late port with poor optimization and missing DLC at a premium price point is not the way to go about increasing sales on Nintendo platforms.
