10 Worst Xbox One Games With Gold Releases So Far

10. Halo: Spartan Assault

The first Games with Gold released on the Xbox One and the first game Xbox One users were surely disappointing with. Halo: Spartan Assault sees you take control of Edward Davis and Sarah Palmer in the fight against the covenant in the time between Halo 3 and Halo 4. That's about all the story you're going to get out of the game because frankly there truly is barely a story to get invested into. The game takes a top-down perspective, something very different from the usual first-person shooter aspect of Halo games (Halo: Wars being ignored because we like to forget about that game). See, this game started off as a mobile and PC game but mainly it plays like a mobile game. Remember Dead Ops Arcade from Call of Duty: Black Ops? That's essentially what this entire game is. Repetitive game play and missions all backed up by annoying and unnecessary microtransactions. In order to bring any type of new loadout into a mission you have to acquire certain amounts of XP. Don't have enough XP? Well looks like you're going to have to buy it then. Really, the game only holds any type of excitement for a mission or two before it starts to feel extremely repetitive and feels like nothing short of a grind. Halo: Spartan Assault never felt like anything more than a mobile game pushed onto the Xbox One because Microsoft was trying to flood the barren Xbox game market at the time. The game may have kept the Halo lore inside it with it's use of weapons and enemies but that's about it. It truly was just a game for the sake of being a game. It felt like more of a cash grab by Microsoft in the terms of "let's give it away for free and hook them in on microtransactions." It's a game that simply exists, many fans have since forgotten about it or deleted it.
