9. Magic: The Gathering - Duels Of The Planeswalkers 2013
Despite the popularity of Magic: The Gathering, the mass market of Xbox users don't share this dedication to the game both in the physical table-top form and simulated arcade games. All-in-all this game is simply a card game with seemingly complicated rules most casual gamers will not care to want to learn, and that's absolutely it. At first glance Magic: The Gathering has a complex set of rules, even more complex exceptions to these rules and a unique terminology that take a lot of getting used to. It's understandable that not every single gamer would enjoy every single game that's given away, but Magic: The Gathering simply targets too narrow a group of gamers. With that being said though, of the Magic: The Gathering games, this one is the most friendly to new users as a lot of the features have been dumbed-down. Pre-built decks make up most of the selection (mostly in a monochrome fashion which makes learning and playing even easier), and the deck builder feature was not nearly as in depth as it would be in more recent games. The Magic: The Gathering fanbase was more than likely thrilled to see this game as an inclusion in the Games with Gold program, but only because their loyalty runs with the game. At its surface the game is nothing more than a table-top arcade game, where new players are forced to sit and learn the ins and outs of a sometimes complicated set of rules. To the average gamer this was nothing more than an easy pass and another disappointment.
