4.The Raven: Legacy Of A Master Thief
An episodic point-and-click adventure game that's not made by Telltale Games surely doesn't sound very appealing in the first place. While Telltale isn't the only company out there with the ability to make these games, they surely have had the most success. But the qualm with this giveaway doesn't lay much with the game itself (while it's most certainly not that good) but in the fact that it's episodic and only episode one was given away. That's right, only one third of the game was given away. That would be like only getting the first chapter of The Walking Dead for free, and if you wanted to find out what else happened, you'd have to shell out for the rest of the game. Not to mention the fact that The Raven's first episode ends in a cliffhanger, so not only are you left unsatisfied but felling as if it was all just a ploy to get you to buy the rest of the episodes. The gameplay itself doesn't save this game either. The story is simply not that interesting and it feels sluggish. For a detective game, nothing in it really screams detective work either. No puzzle in the game is hard to figure out, nor do they even require you to think at all. You're required to interact with people multiple times to even figure out if they are worth your time or not because you only find out after the third or fourth continuous interaction. The user interface isn't helpful either as items you need to interact with on screen show no sign of being remotely intractable until you manage to place your cursor over them. Such a tedious game, that wasn't even fully given away is most certainly something that left gamers annoyed.
